New Resources
16 June 2009
Schoolchildren from Munlochy Primary School and Inverness Gaelic Primary School joined Stòrlann and friends in the Drumossie hotel in Inverness on 9th June to launch a host of new resources for Gaelic medium education.
Mairi Kidd – Stòrlann’s Chief Executive welcomed everyone, and Donald MacRitchie – Projects Officer, who managed the three resources explained what each resource was and at whom it was aimed. The children from Munlochy Primary School launched the board game Siuthad! They enthralled us all with their singing which showed how they have been learning Gaelic using the GLPS resources.
Another of the resources to be launched was Mo Chreideamh, sùil air diofar chreideamhan an t-saoghail.This is an interactive whiteboard resource which explains the six main religions of the world through the eyes of Scottish children who follow their respective religion.
The children from Inverness Gaelic Primary school launched the third resource Kar2ouche Sgrìobhadh cruthachail, and gave us an inspiring presentation on how to use this versatile resource in any classroom context. This resource develops creative writing skills using traditional and mythical tales. Each of the children present confidently presented their own versions of the traditional and not so traditional tales.
Each child is to be commended on the work and singing they presented us with and made for an enjoyable morning. They should not only inspire Stòrlann to provide for them, but also the wider Gaelic community.
