Stòrlann Board of Directors: new members, and farewells

Stòrlann is pleased to announce that two new representatives have joined the Board of Directors, which also has a new Vice Chairperson.

Jim Whannel, Glasgow City Council, will take on the role of Vice Chair. Jim has been a member of the Board for some years and has in-depth knowledge of both the company and the Gaelic education context.

Joan MacKinnon, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, has joined the Board in her new role as Director of Education at the Comhairle. Joan has sat on Stòrlann Advisory panels for a number of years and the company is delighted that she will be able to continue her involvement in her new post.

Archie MacLean left the Board when he left his post as Chief Executive of Comunn na Gàidhlig, but has returned as the nominee of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. The company is very pleased to welcome him back after the brief hiatus.

The company also bid farewell recently to a number of members. Catrìona Dunn and Lachie Dick retired from the Board and from their posts at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. Lachie and Catrìona have been involved in the governance of Stòrlann from almost the beginning and have contributed greatly to the development of the company. Their reputations precede them as experts in the field of Gaelic education and they have been most generous in sharing this knowledge, and their time, with the company. Our thanks to both, and every blessing for the future.

Donald MacNeill will leave the Board shortly when he leaves his post at The Highland Council in order to take up the post of Chief Executive at Comunn na Gàidhlig. Stòrlann thanks Donald for his very supportive input during his membership of the Board.
